Greetings! The summer certainly flew by, but I'm very excited to start the new year with some exciting changes
in the Music Department! On top of the three choirs at Ed-Co, we now have a middle school general music class.
Throughout the year, this group will explore the idea that music is everywhere and can be anything, and even do some of their
own composing. The 7th and 8th grade choirs will not only be singing, but also learning the fundamentals of music
notation to make our choir rehearsals as successful as possible. The High School Choir is working on a few fun and
exciting pieces for our first concert, which will also include the 7th and 8th grade choirs, on Monday, October 17, at 7:30pm
in the High School Gymnasium. This fall, our High School Choir members also have the rare opportunity to participate
in a concert featuring Iowa-born, world renowned opera singer, Simon Estes, and with singers from Maquoketa Valley and West
Delaware. This concert is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for these young performers, so please make sure to support
that concert which will take place on Monday, September 26, at the Hanson Auditorium in Manchester. Tickets for the
event are available to community members through the Community Savings Bank in Edgewood. We hope to see you there!
